| The Italian team at the National AIDS Center has completed 2 clinical trials with T1-alpha in Italy. The trials were conducted with the sponsorship and financial support of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the Italian NIH). Completed trials include a Phase I Preventive trial (completed in May 2005 - click here for ClinicalTrials.gov record ) and a Phase I Therapeutic trial (completed in June 2005 - click here for ClinicalTrials.gov record ). |

| The studies showed that Tat is well tolerated, safe, and capable of eliciting an immune response in vaccinated patients. These favorable results have encouraged the National AIDS Center to progress to Phase II studies with T1 alpha, both in Italy and in South Africa. |
